Description

Overlooking central Albury is the tree cloaked Nail Can Hill. During early settlement of Albury, a large part of Nail Can Hill was cleared, but later left to regenerate resulting in the existing bushland. The native woodlands are easily explored via bike trails and walking paths. In spring it is a particularly special area with wild flowers and orchids in full bloom. Take a seat at the many observation points and enjoy scenic views. At any time of the year glorious colourful wildflowers are on display and the birdlife is abundant. Take advantage of the Ridge Walking Track.

Nai lCan Hill has many kilometres of tracks suitable for walkers of all levels, accessible from many points. The track, from Hovell Tree Park, follows The Murray River, crosses Padman Drive and then leads to the Nail Can Hill Flora and Fauna Reserve via Monument Hill. Extensive views of the surrounding district can be seen from both points and picnic facilities are available at Nail Can Hill. The track then passes the Old Gold Diggings and links up with the W J Steer Trails.

The track can be joined from access points on Logan Road at the Hume GolfClub or from Gap Road where it joins the Bungambrawatha Creek Loop. The distance from Hovell Tree Park to the W J Steer Trails is about 6km.
