Top Tourist Park chains Austin Tourist Park at Tamworth, has another success in the NSW Inland Tourism Awards held in Parkes last Saturday.
The Inland NSW Tourism Awards are held annually to showcase Inland NSW’s finest tourism operators and individuals.Austin is a 2006 CCIANSW Best Inland Park winner and winner in 2001 of the Hugh Diedrich Award for Outstanding Contribution to Top Tourist Parks of Aust.
Austin Tourist Park in Armidale Rd Tamworth won the 2004 & 2006 Caravan & Camping Industry Assoc of NSW Award for Best Inland Park.
It was runner-up in the 2006 Inland Tourism Awards. Austin won the 2005 Inland NSW Tourism Award for best Inland Caravan Park.
Chris and Frank Edwards own and run Austin Tourist Park, one of the best award winning caravan parks in Australia. It's a Tamworth icon in the NSW Golden Country Music Guitar city. Its value to Tamworth is far beyond the three and a half Star rating Automobile Association assessor put on it.
Chris and Frank know struggle, hard work, sacrifice, dedication, failure, floods, illness and the value of family. They began in a bare paddock. Their home and office was a caravan. The canvas annex was both office and nursery.
Attendees from all over the state gathered at the Parkes Leagues Club on Saturday July 26 to discover who would take home the 2008 CountryLink Inland NSW Tourism award in over 16 categories
The Committee of Inland NSW Tourism Awards honoured long standing member, Ted Wilson who recently passed away.
Ted Wilson was a strong advocate for Tourism in Inland NSW and in 2007, received a Ministerial Certificate of Appreciation for his commitment to regional tourism. An awards category has been renamed in his honour and is now ‘the Ted Wilson Award for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism by an Individual’
